So the other day (it was a Monday) I went to a morning class and it ended up being canceled but those of us in the class didn't know it so we waited for about 45 minutes until someone finally told us our teacher wasn't going to arrive.
So for like 45 minutes or longer I had an interesting conversation (mostly one-sided, since I'm more of a listener than a talker) about music...
...among other things such as penny loafers and Star Wars.
Even though I'm a pretty quiet person, I just couldn't interject because one boy in the class was filling every second of the silence in the room.
And I was really fascinated by how quickly he came up with his witty remarks... fascinated because usually he's quiet when lots of people are around (the teacher especially).
I'd never even seen him talk to anyone.
So as he's chatting it up, I make a remark about his haircut looking a bit like a Luke Skywalker haircut and he laughed.
And then after a while he asks me what kind of music I'm into. So in my head I was freaking out (*OMFG*) because if you know me, you'll know I get the most excited to talk about music.
I decide to say the cliche "everything but Country," because OF COURSE my mind would go blank the moment I was put on the spot.
Then he decides to ask the simplest, yet most difficult question ever, "what's your favorite band?"
Obviously I say "That's impossible." But then after thinking about it, I gave him something of an answer "Okay...I'll tell you a band I'm really into at the moment: Muse."
And he replies, "Muse...that sounds boring." So I play a Muse song and ask "does this sound boring to you?"
He thought it sounded 'generic.'
So then he asks if I have a favorite song. Impossible, too.
"Play a song you like, then," he requests.
So I play a song by MGMT and someone else says "listening to their music makes you feel like your on acid"
...very true, very true. xD
Later he tells me to list my top 5 favorite bands.
Well that's gonna be hard, I thought.
So I decided to throw the questions back at him. "What about you? What kind of music are YOU into?"
He gave me a similar answer I gave him how he wasn't sure, so I said, "what genres do you like, then?" He makes it very clear he doesn't like Pop, Rap or Country.
Now this is someone I can be friends with. (Tbh, though, I have no problem with Rap or Hip-Hop)
After we finally realized the teacher wasn't coming, we all headed out to the “courtyard˝ I suppose you could call it and sat at a table. I set my stuff down first and the two boys next to me in class join me. I'm usually a wallflower, so this experience was kind of new for me.
We continued talking about music and he demanded that I guess his favorite band because I "looked like I could read minds." Not having a clue, he told me it started with the letter A.
And even though I'm a music nerd I had to look it up.
I came up with Avenged Sevenfold (A7X) after 3 or 4 other guesses like Aerosmith and The Allman Brothers Band... and because he gave me the second letter.
All in all, it was an eventful morning. The best Mondays are "Music Mondays."
